Separate facts from assumptions and find the important clues.
Read three accounts of the same event and look for an incompatibility.
Choose the impossible account and explain which fact contradicts it.
Project status
The first version will let you solve the mystery without signing up. An account will be optional and will save your statistics, history and discoveries.
We will publish the opening date here. Until then, no payments or access codes are requested.
The format
The daily mystery always follows the same structure: a brief event, a few verified facts and three people describing what happened. Two accounts fit those facts. The third cannot, and your task is to say which one and why.
The format is deliberately focused. As it repeats daily, readers stop spending effort on the rules and can devote it to the case. It also lets them compare difficulty from one day to the next.
The contradiction never depends on outside knowledge. You need not know when darkness falls in November or how an engine works: everything required is in the verified facts. If you had to look something up, the mystery would be badly designed.
How long it takes
A daily case should take two or three minutes, standing up, with one attentive reading. It does not replace a book: it trains the basic skill of separating what is stated from what is assumed, which helps with longer cases later.
It works well aloud. Read to two or three people, the case sparks immediate discussion because each account suggests a different candidate, and the only way forward is to return to the verified facts. For mixed groups of children and adults, the guide to logic puzzles for families.
While the daily archive is closed, there are complete free cases to play now at Play RASTROS, with graded hints and solutions.
